This December 1892 Everett Herald article describes the decision to bury the body of Professor Ganiard, a drowning victim, near the intersection of Broadway and Third Street in Lowell. Professor Ganiard may have been the first person to be buried in what would become, in 1898, the Evergreen Cemetery.
