DescriptionDale Pope, a community relations officer for the City of Everett Police Department, is interviewed for Channel Three television regarding the Police Department's ""God Squad."" On September 6, 1973, Mayor Bob Anderson and Everett Police Chief Ed Sylte announced the creation of a Police Department Chaplain Bureau during an Everett Ministerial Association Luncheon. Known unofficially as the God Squad, the program recruited ten chaplains from different faiths to assist police and the public during times of severe stress. On-call chaplains were identified with uniforms that clearly identified them as clergy.
